This felix can fly for long periods of time (up to 4 hours) by jumping from cliffs, extending the folds of skin under its arms and between its legs and riding the thermals. Once used widely as a target for shooting, it is now illegal to shoot flying felixes in their breeding season (March-November) or on a Wednesday or Thursday. These felixes have hollow bones, and hunt small birds such as sparrows, starlings, blackbirds and thrushes.
